Detailed explanation of the eligibility criteria

Here I explain in detail my rationale for each of the listed eligibility criteria in my episode 67 fansub offer.

1. You must be at least 18 years old.

For better or for worse, United States law does not recognize the ability of minors to enter a commerce transaction with informed consent. This fansub is being offered under a very peculiar set of circumstances and I do not want to take the chance that a minor could obtain this fansub without properly understanding the underlying situation.

Of course, some adults might not understand the situation either, but unlike minors, adults are generally held legally responsible for their own actions.

For those of you who are under 18, I can offer the following suggestions:
  1. Explain this fansub offer to your parent or guardian, and ask them to accept it.
  2. Get this fansub (or any other fansub) from someone other than me.
  3. Wait until you're 18.

2. You must live in the United States or Canada.

Because the ADV Films DVD release is only for the United States market, the problem that I am trying to solve (namely, the absence of episode number 67) only applies to the United States. In other countries, there might well exist licensed editions of Sailor Moon R that are not missing this episode.

Even if another country's licensed edition lacks this or any other episode, I am not interested in filling gaps in the general availability of Sailor Moon episodes worldwide. My efforts are focused on repairing this particular gap in this particular US release. Opening up this offer to residents outside of the US would make it appear as if I were actively subsidizing cross-region importation of US licensed DVDs, which I would prefer to avoid, regardless of the actual merits of cross-region importation in general.

As a special exception, I will ship to Canada, because ADV itself accepts orders to Canada and Canada is DVD-region compatible with the US.

3. You must own a legitimate copy of the official ADV Films DVD box set.

This one should be obvious: my goal is to complete the set, so you had better own the set before I will send you the episode. In fact, my greatest hope is that this fansub offer will increase sales of the box set, by eliminating any reservations people may have about buying an "incomplete" or "deficient" box set.
